Here are the notes after joining the solo.coder presentation. This is the slice’s link in that presentation. His topic how to improve your career as a coder especially without work experience. If you don’t have the experience, solo coder suggests Three main ways.
- Content
- Confidence
- Connections
Content
The first one is talking about content. You need to think about what you know, and share what you know, and build your brand. The efficient way is to create your Blog. In your own Blog, you can share the last thing you have learned. Even no one will see your blog at the beginning, leaving your blog in your resume might helps you get a job easily. Therefore, you might your extra job.
Confidence
The second is talking about confidence. For the programmers, we would have clear ways to build your confidence, which is building more real projects, and open-source (@firstcontributions/ first-contributions )to post them to the public like Github. Also, learning other code languages is very helpful for building your confidence. solo coder provides a free platform (@MunGell/ awesome-for-beginners ) to start learning a new language.
Connections
The last one is talking about connection. Every industry needs to have its own work network for a better career. However, it’s hard to know new people who work in the industry. Solo coder recommends an awesome app to help you connect with other colleagues. That is Meetup. There aren’t many conditions for you to join the meetup meeting. He suggests that feeling free to search for an interesting topic in coding and join the next meeting. Because you join the meetings, people know about you. You might have a chance to get your work.
